The Ultimate Field Trip

Outdoor education and experiential learning on a traditional tall ship!

Spend 4-5 days with your school, post-secondary program, or other youth group for the learning experience of a lifetime!
Open to participants ages 13-24 (with a limited number of adult chaperones)
Group trips are offered from March to June, September and October
Sail from Victoria BC's Upper Harbour and explore the beautiful Gulf Islands

Educator Day Sail

Join us on for a free day of sailing and outdoor education on a tall ship! Just for current educators of grades 8-12, these day sails will provide a taste of SALTS’ multi-day group trip experience. Spend some time on the water seeing firsthand how experiential learning on a traditional wooden schooner incorporates physical activity, connection to and care for others, immersion in the natural world, and more.

Life Onboard a Group Trip

Leave the distractions of life on shore and participate in every aspect of life aboard a tall ship, including setting the sails, navigation, and steering the ship. Enjoy healthy meals prepared on board by the ship's cook. Expand your knowledge with hands-on sailing lessons. Row the ship's dories to local marine parks and beaches. Most importantly, disembark with a deeper connection to others, yourself, and the wider world.

Learning Outcomes

Classroom theories and concepts come to life! From the biology of the inter-tidal zone of a coastal island, to the math and physics brought to life by reading charts and plotting navigation routes, experiential learning happens every day aboard a tall ship.
