Other Ways to Give: Mail a cheque or phone us with your credit card number (contact info at bottom of page).

Please note that mailed donations received by SALTS are not eligible for a 2024 tax receipt if they have a 2025 postmarked date; during the Canada Post strike, postmarking may be delayed. The best way to avoid this affecting your 2024 tax receipt is by giving online, by phone, or in person at our office.

WHY YOUR DONATION MATTERS

The future lies in the hands of young people, so let’s give them the helm! On board SALTS ships young people rise to the challenge. They step up, stand up, and live tall every day. They learn the value of hard work, real-life (off-screen) adventures, and overcoming obstacles. We help them understand their full potential and that they are loved and accepted for who they are. When they return to shore, they’ve tasted the abundance of community life and experienced the deep satisfaction of working together. Trainees often say they feel empowered to be their authentic selves, they are more aware of the needs of others, and they feel more confident in the face of life’s challenges.

HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS

  • Donations for use "where most needed" (or left undesignated) give us the most flexibility to ensure every gift is used in the most effective way. Our spending is limited to Board-approved programs and purchases.
  • Donations can be directed towards schooner maintenance and upgrade projects. These will prolong the life of our schooners Pacific Swift and Pacific Grace, and enhance the  trainee experience and safety. Pacific Swift is in need of a foredeck replacement (aft deck is already done).
  • Donations can be designated to bursaries for young people with financial needs or those going through challenging life situations.
We are a registered charity in Canada (BN 119133619BC0001) and we have tax exempt (FORGN) status in the USA. Our finances are audited annually by an independent accounting firm.  Donors are encouraged to seek the advice of an independent financial professional regarding any charitable gifts that might have a significant impact on their finances. Donations designated for a specific project or purpose are accepted on the condition that they will be used for the specified project or purpose, unless that project or purpose has already been completed, or for some reason cannot be completed. In this case, the SALTS Board may decide that the funds are to be used for another charitable activity.

The amazing experience that is a tall ship voyage with SALTS came not only in the 10-day voyage itself, but in the people I spent it with.  I came for the wildlife and waterfalls.  I will come back for the people I experienced them with.
